My position is to design the most comfortable, energy efficient, pleasant home within your budget while complying with building code requirements. I want you to be able to come in a room and have attractive sight lines to beyond and outside. When you sit down, I want you to be able to gather and visit with those you love. "I reserve the right to argue anything you want to do that might be foolish. If you can convince me why you want to do it, we will do it." If I can recommend cost savings or reduce waste, I will. From the ground up, I have been involved in buying land, clearing, design, construction plans, permit process and enjoying our forever home/office. I have done construction administration to ensure clients got what was designed on the plans. Additions to an existing home focus on solving space, storage, or traffic patterns. Document existing construction, demolition plans to detail areas to be removed. Addition plans detail the new spaces, interior elevations as needed to depict interior spaces. Exterior elevations / building sections detail existing to new construction connections. Remodeling normally does not extend beyond the walls of the existing residence. Opening one space to another? Opening rooms to the exterior or deck? Aging in place? Enjoying your space improves quality of life. Ability to navigate a bathroom or doorways for aging or handicap is critical for sense of independence. New construction is a world unto itself. When starting from scratch, I typically meet clients at their home. I can't solve storage issues if things are tucked away.
